Gorakhpur Festival 2026: CM Yogi Adityanath honored Maithili Thakur and distributed the Gorakhpur Gaurav Samman (Gorakhpur Pride Award)

Gorakhpur, January 14, 2026: The Gorakhpur Mahotsav 2026 is in full swing in Gorakhpur, the holy city of Mahayogi Guru Shri Gorakhnath Ji. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath attended this grand cultural festival on Tuesday and celebrated the journey of Gorakhpur from ancient times to the modern era.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath bestowed a special honor upon Maithili Thakur, a daughter of Mithila and a renowned devotional singer (and Honorable Member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly). Maithili Thakur's devotional performance added a spiritual touch to the entire program, which was highly appreciated by all.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister honored prominent personalities of Gorakhpur who have made outstanding contributions in various fields with the 'Gorakhpur Gaurav Samman' (or Gorakhpur Ratna Award). Six prominent individuals who have contributed to fields such as sports, science, agriculture, and social work received this honor, including names like para-badminton player Shivam Yadav, progressive farmer Avinash Kumar Maurya, and architect Ashish Srivastava. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also visited the exhibition, where glimpses of local crafts, art, culture, and products were on display. He said that the Gorakhpur Mahotsav not only preserves heritage but also promotes modern development.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended his heartfelt gratitude to the public representatives, administrative officers, police team, voluntary organizations, social institutions, and the business community for the successful organization of the Gorakhpur Mahotsav. He also extended his best wishes to all. The festival started on January 11 and formally concluded on January 13. Held at Champa Devi Park (near Ramgarh Tal), the festival attracted thousands of people with its music, art, bhajans, Bhojpuri night, and exhibition of local products. Union Minister of State Kamlesh Paswan and MP Ravi Kishan were also present.
The Gorakhpur Mahotsav has become a major platform for the Uttar Pradesh government to promote culture, tourism, and local art. Under the leadership of the Yogi government, Gorakhpur is becoming free from mafia and riots, and is reaching new heights of development. This festival is playing a crucial role in promoting the cultural heritage of Purvanchal at the national and international levels.
