Gujarat, 7 July 2025 – Union Home
and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah today took a historic step towards making
the dairy sector self-reliant. He inaugurated the country's first Ready-to-Cook
culture plant set up by IDMC.On this occasion, Amit Shah said,
"Today is a very important day towards self-reliance in the dairy sector.
Up to 90% of the 'culture' required for fermented food products was imported.
But now indigenous culture will be produced in India itself."
Union Minister Amit Shah today
emphasized that the continuous efforts of research and innovation of NDDB
(National Dairy Development Board) have brought India to a revolutionary
turning point in the dairy sector. Now indigenous Ready-to-Use Culture (RUC)
formulations have been prepared in the country itself - which till now were
completely dependent on foreign supplies. This achievement will not only reduce
the cost of dairy products but will also enable India to make a strong presence
on the global dairy platform with the 'Make in India' brand.
With the same positive energy,
today Amit Shah also laid the foundation stone of the new office building of
NDDB and inaugurated the new corporate complex of NCDFI (National Cooperative
Dairy Federation of India), giving a new momentum and direction to India's
cooperative movement. "This is not just the foundation of buildings, but
the foundation of Aatmanirbhar Bharat," he said. This initiative is a
milestone towards further strengthening India's cooperative model.
India's dairy sector is now ready
to touch new heights of self-reliance. With the help of indigenous technology,
local production and scientific innovation, this sector will not only empower
farmers economically but will also realize the Prime Minister's vision of
'Vocal for Local'.
