A poignant atmosphere prevailed today in Baramati, the hometown of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar, following his death. Ajit Pawar and all others on board the aircraft died in a plane crash near Baramati on Wednesday. ​​His funeral was held today, Thursday, with full state honors at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds. His wife, Sunetra Pawar, and son, Jay Pawar, were visibly grief-stricken as they paid their last respects to their husband and father. When Sunetra Pawar arrived on the stage during the funeral, she broke down in tears. She offered her final respects to her husband, Ajit Pawar. Supriya Sule tried to comfort her, but Sunetra Pawar's grief was so profound that she wept uncontrollably. Rajya Sabha MP and Ajit Pawar's wife, Sunetra, along with the entire family, showed strength during this difficult time, but their tears could not be held back. Thousands of supporters chanted slogans of "Ajit Dada Amar Rahe" (Long live Ajit Dada). Ajit Pawar's two sons – Jay Pawar and Parth Pawar – lit the funeral pyre. Jay Pawar was particularly emotional during his father's last rites. The entire family – including his uncle Sharad Pawar, cousin Supriya Sule, and nephew Rohit Pawar – were present. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and other prominent leaders also arrived to pay their respects. A crowd of hundreds of thousands gathered at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds in Baramati from early morning. People came to bid a final farewell to "Dada." The funeral procession began at 9 AM and reached the main grounds. A gun salute was given as part of the state honors. The entire state of Maharashtra and the country shared in this grief. This incident is a huge blow to Maharashtra politics. Ajit Pawar was the "Dada" of the people of Baramati, who always prioritized public service. The emotional farewell of Sunetra Pawar and Jay Pawar touched everyone's hearts.
