150 Years of Vande Mataram: Grand display of Operation Sindoor on Kartavya Path, Rafale and BrahMos missiles steal the show

New Delhi, January 26, 2026: India celebrated its 77th Republic Day today with grandeur and pride. The Republic Day parade held on Kartavya Path showcased a magnificent blend of the country's military might, cultural heritage, and unity. This year's parade was themed around the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram', which imbued the entire ceremony with a spirit of patriotism.
The parade began with the tune of Vande Mataram. Thousands of artists sang 'Vande Mataram' to the melodious sounds of drums and shehnai, the echoes of which resonated from Kartavya Path across the entire country. Approximately 2500 artists from across the country mesmerized the audience with their performances. This moment, in the presence of President Droupadi Murmu, was deeply emotional and inspiring. Several tableaux commemorating the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram' specifically depicted Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and the composition of this national song.
The most talked-about part of the parade was the display of Operation Sindoor. This successful operation, conducted in 2025, was showcased for the first time in such a grand manner at the Republic Day parade. The flag of Operation Sindoor was unfurled in the joint tableau of the Tri-Services (Army, Air Force, and Navy).
- Rafale jets formed the 'Operation Sindoor Formation'.
- BrahMos missiles, Prahaar, and other advanced weapons were displayed.
- Models of the Integrated Command Center and Phased Battle Array were showcased.
- The Air Force's Sindoor formation included Rafale, Su-30, and MiG-29 aircraft.
The whole world witnessed this roar echoing in the skies above Kartavya Path, symbolizing India's military capability and self-reliance.
Other highlights of the parade included 30 tableaux, with 17 states/union territories and 13 ministries/departments showcasing the themes of 'Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram' and 'Mantra of Prosperity: Atmanirbhar Bharat' (Self-Reliant India). During this event, the presence of European Union leaders further strengthened relations between India and the EU. The parade also showcased new technologies, with new weapons such as drone power, Divyastra, and Shaktiban being used for the first time. In addition, Rafale jets captivated the audience with a spectacular flypast in the Vijay and Vajrang formations.
Addressing the nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that this parade was not just an event, but a living testament to India's unity, strength, and culture. The success of Operation Sindoor and the immortal echo of Vande Mataram presented a new image of India to the whole world today – an India that is connected to its roots and prepared for the challenges of the future.
